Bigger, better Paledi Mall for rural Limpopo town of Mankweng
Tuesday, 21st October 2014
The newly expanded Paledi Mall, owned and managed by Twin City Development (Pty) Ltd, will soon offer the community of Mankweng in rural Limpopo even more quality retail variety when it opens on October 30, 2014.

Twin City Development in conjunction with Retail Network Services (RNS) analysed the existing retail facility and created a strategy and vision to enhance the Paledi Shopping Mall.

Paledi Mall is almost doubling its size to around 25,000sqm GLA, as part of a multi-million rand expansion and will accommodate some 86 stores, eateries and service outlets. The expansion will see the community shopping centre welcome over 20 new retailers, including the introduction of another anchor tenant, Shoprite, who is set to open a 3,000sqm store.

“Paledi Mall used to be a convenience centre of 12,500sqm and only had Spar, Jet, Pep and Nedbank as national tenants with a strong furniture presence. Upon completion, the new Paledi Mall will be approximately 25,000sqm and will obtain semi-regional status for the community it serves. It will have two national food anchors (Spar and Shoprite), a full national fashion compliment and ancillary financial services,” says Johan Visagie, Managing Director of Twin City Development.

“The existing centre is being strengthened with the addition of an array of new retailers, which will meet the growing needs of the Mankweng community and surrounding rural towns,” says Gavin Tagg of RNS - a full-service specialist in retail leasing and development.

“In addition to Shoprite, other major national brands set to open on the 30th of  October include Truworths, Identity, Total Sports, Ackermans, Mr Price, Edgars Active, Exact, John Craig, Markham, Foschini, Sportscene, Vodacom and Capitec, amongst others. The expanded Paledi Mall is now fully let and Woolworths Textiles store will be opening its doors early 2015.”

Besides a bolstered and more diverse retail mix, Paledi Mall will also boast a new food court area with the delicious introduction of Debonairs, Nandos, Fish & Chip Co and Chesanyama.

In addition, it offers a number of fashion, speciality, health and beauty and furniture stores. It also offers the community convenient banking with Nedbank, Capitec and FNB Easy-plan.

“The quality of the design, finishes, and signage at the revamped and expanded Paledi Mall will be comparable with any other contemporary Shopping Mall in South Africa,” comments Tagg.

The Mall is located just off the busy R71 route between Polokwane and Tzaneen and offers convenient free open air parking for shoppers from Mankweng and the surrounding rural villages. For shoppers making use of public transport, the taxi rank adjacent to the Mall will further increase the centre's accessibility.

Opening day at Paledi Mall will see shoppers participate in various competitions, with exclusive prizes up for grabs. Great entertainment will be at the forefront of celebrations with performances by the community brass band, drum majorettes and local artists and DJs.

Kids will be treated to not-to-be-missed fun with train rides, face painting and a bungee trampoline.
